Biography

Vasileios Tzoumas received his Ph.D. in Electrical Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. He also holds a Master of Arts in Statistics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania (2016), a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania (2016), and a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (2012). He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Before joining the University of Michigan, Vasileios was a post-doctoral associate research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS). His research interests lie in the development of scalable and reliable algorithms for mobile cyber-physical systems within resource-constrained, unstructured environments, as seen in applications like defense and disaster response. He focuses on autonomous systems that excel in perception, control, and coordination, particularly in the context of Advanced Air Mobility and resilient autonomous systems.
