Dr. Vasiliki Tzouvara

Biography

Vasiliki Tzouvara is a Senior Lecturer specializing in Psychological Trauma and Mental Health at King's College London. She obtained her MSc and PhD in Health Research, focusing on mental health psychology from the University of Bedfordshire. With a background in psychology from the University of Wrexham and Crete, and further qualifications in public health and psychology from the University of Bedfordshire and the University of Leicester, she has developed significant expertise in anxiety disorders, PTSD, and adverse childhood experiences. Her research involves creating and evaluating innovative interventions for PTSD and anxiety disorders, particularly in acute care settings. She leads the NIHR RfPB-funded project aimed at co-designing trauma-informed interventions and contributes to NIHR studies exploring PTSD in veterans. Tzouvara employs a mixed-methods participatory research approach, adeptly utilizing qualitative and quantitative methodologies while conducting various types of reviews and applying neurocognitive assessments to investigate memory and brain function. Additionally, she is actively engaged with professional organizations and represents Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives within her division. Vasiliki supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, nurturing the next generation of mental health professionals.
