Professor Dr. Vasily Giannakeas

Biography

Vasily Giannakeas is an Assistant Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. He holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the same institution and a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Epidemiology. He graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. His research primarily revolves around cancer epidemiology, which includes interests in cancer risk prediction, survivorship, and the utilization of real-world data to inform public health strategies. His academic contributions encompass a range of topics including breast cancer screening, epidemiologic methods, and the application of machine learning techniques in cancer research. He has published extensively in renowned journals and contributes to advancing the understanding of cancer mortality and screening methodologies. As an Assistant Professor, he actively teaches courses on Cancer Epidemiology and Oncology Public Health, fostering a new generation of public health professionals.
