Biography

Vassilis Zikas is an Associate Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology in the School of Cybersecurity. He is a pioneer in blockchain decentralization research and has affiliated with leading blockchain cryptocurrency companies. His research includes significant contributions as the area leader for Input Output Global (formerly known as IOHK) and as a member of the core research team that co-developed the foundational decentralization of the Cardano blockchain, which is one of the top ten cryptocurrencies. Currently, he serves as the Chief Scientist at the Sunday Group and is the lead architect for their flagship project, Mobby, a new blockchain initiative. Prior to this role, he was a fellow at the Simons Institute at UC Berkeley and received support as a Swiss NSF fellow. His work has been funded by various government agencies, including the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense, along with substantial contributions from the blockchain industry and faculty grants from organizations such as the Sunday Group and the Algorand Foundation.
