Biography

Vassily Hatzimanikatis is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. He obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and his Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece. Vassily has held a research group leader position at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) and has prior experience teaching as an assistant professor at Northwestern University in Illinois, USA. His research interests lie in computational systems biology, biotechnology, and complexity. He has served as an associate editor for notable journals such as Biotechnology & Bioengineering and Metabolic Engineering, and is a member of the editorial advisory boards for several scientific journals. With over 70 technical publications to his name, he is also a co-inventor on multiple patents. Vassily has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and received various awards, including the Jay Bailey Young Investigator Award and the ACS Elmar Gaden Award.
