Dr. Vaughan Rees

Biography

Vaughan Rees is an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Design, and Architecture. He is a practicing artist and art design educator whose research primarily focuses on Visual Autobiography and artistic outcome research methodologies. His dominant medium is drawing, through which he explores notions of place, travel, and personal consumption amidst global transformations. Professor Rees has exhibited his work across Australia, Canada, China, Singapore, and the United States. He has also co-authored the successful book series 'Artifacts' published by McGraw-Hill, which received the Australian Book Publishers' Award for the series. He has edited and contributed chapters to books on pedagogy in the visual arts published by Common Ground Publishers. Over the years, Professor Rees has championed professional internships for young designers, receiving a national award from the Carrick Institute for his outstanding contributions to student learning.
