Dr. Vedat Verter

Biography

Vedat Verter is a Professor and the Stephen J.R. Smith Chair in Management Analytics at the Smith School of Business, Queen’s University, where he has been since August 2022. Before joining Queen’s University, he was the John H. McConnell Endowed Chair in Business Administration at Michigan State University's Broad College of Business, serving as Chairperson of the Supply Chain Management Department. He has over two decades of experience in academics, including significant roles at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management, where he was a James McGill Professor. Verter is recognized for his expertise in operations research, particularly in the contexts of health care analytics and socially responsible supply chains. His extensive research includes over eighty articles in refereed journals and numerous book chapters. He has a strong commitment to mentoring future scholars, having supervised 18 PhD students and 25 post-doctoral fellows. His work has led innovations in risk assessment for hazardous goods transport and evidence-based policy design aimed at enhancing sustainability in operations. His contributions have been acknowledged internationally, including editorial roles in reputable journals like Socio-Economic Planning Sciences and Production Operations Management.
