Biography

Dr. Venkatesh Thiruganasambandamoorthy is an internationally recognized expert in syncope and presyncope research. He is a Full Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa. As a Senior Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, he holds a Tier-1 Clinical Research Chair focused on Cardiovascular Emergencies. Dr. Thiruganasambandamoorthy completed a Master's in Epidemiology and is actively involved in mentoring Master's and postdoctoral students. He has established some of the largest programs in Emergency Department syncope and presyncope research and has held significant roles to advance the field both nationally and internationally. He is a founding member of the Canadian Syncope Alliance and involved in several initiatives aimed at improving syncope care in Canada. His research interests include risk stratification, prehospital research, syncope/presyncope, chest pain, natural language processing, machine learning, cardiovascular emergencies, and emerging technologies in artificial intelligence.
