Her doctoral work formed the basis of her monograph, ‘Migrant Domestic Workers in Europe: Law and the Construction of Vulnerability’, published by Hart Publishing in late 2021. In 2019, she became a member of the European Equality Law Network, providing independent legal advice to the European Commission on the implementation of gender equality issues. In 2023, Vera co-led a significant study on women’s representation in political decision-making for the European Commission. Currently, she serves as the School’s Deputy Director of Postgraduate Research. Her research focuses on labour law, labour migration, gender equality, and feminist approaches to work, particularly examining how legal regimes produce vulnerability and exploitation among migrant domestic workers. Vera is also involved in a collaborative project researching the impacts of green capitalism on workers and communities.
