Biography

Vered Shwartz is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia, specializing in natural language processing (NLP). With a background in computer science from Bar-Ilan University, she completed her PhD in 2019. Her research focuses on creating models that achieve human-level understanding of natural language. She works on enhancing the capabilities of large language models and vision-language models while developing culturally competent AI and responsible NLP applications, particularly in sensitive fields such as law and medicine.
