Biography

Professor Vesna F. Mitrovic has been a member of the Brown University Physics Department since 2003, where she serves as the Chair. She obtained her Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 2001, followed by postdoctoral research at the Grenoble High Magnetic Field Laboratory in France. Her research focuses on experimental condensed matter physics, utilizing magnetic resonance techniques to investigate unconventional superconductivity, low-dimensional systems, quantum phase transitions, quantum magnetism, functional semiconductors, nanoparticles, and topological states of matter. Her work aims to develop direct probes for quantum ground states in materials and quantum control protocols. Mitrovic has made significant contributions to the understanding of quantum phenomena in strongly correlated electron systems, with a particular focus on the interplay between magnetic resonance and quantum magnetism. She has received several prestigious awards, including the Alfred P. Sloan Fellow designation from the American Physical Society and the National Science Foundation CAREER award. Professor Mitrovic is also active in teaching and has delivered lectures at notable international conferences and academic institutions, sharing her expertise in quantum sensing and condensed matter physics.
