Dr. Vicente Grau

Biography

Vicente Grau is a Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, where he also serves as Director of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Healthcare Innovation and a Professorial Fellow at Mansfield College. He earned his PhD in medical image analysis from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, and has a background that includes work at Brigham Women’s Hospital and Harvard University, as well as the ONH Biomechanics Lab at LSU Health Sciences Center. Vicente's research specializes in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) methods aimed at enhancing the understanding of human anatomy and physiology, especially in combination with medical imaging. His interests lie in creating multimodal algorithms that leverage large databases for population-level studies, focusing on various clinical applications, particularly in cardiovascular medicine. His work includes automatic reconstruction of cardiac shapes from clinical images, machine learning methods for simulating digital contrast in CT scans, and innovations in the analysis of interventional cardiac angiography scans. He is a prominent figure in the field of biomedical image analysis and has contributed significantly to integrating AI with medical data to improve clinical assessments and treatment planning.
