Biography

Vicente Grau is a Professor of Biomedical Image Analysis and a Professorial Fellow at Mansfield College, University of Oxford. He holds a PhD in medical image analysis from Universidad Politecnica de Valencia, Spain. Before joining Oxford in 2004, he spent years at Brigham Women’s Hospital and worked at Harvard University’s ONH Biomechanics Lab, as well as at LSU Health Sciences Center. He has been awarded the title of Professor in 2015. His teaching includes lectures for the MEng in Engineering Science at Oxford, and he serves as the Associate Director of the Systems Approaches to Biomedical Sciences Centre Doctoral Training (SABS CDT). Vicente’s research is centered on developing AI-enabled methodologies to enhance the understanding of human anatomy and physiology and to derive solutions for healthcare challenges. He has a particular interest in leveraging medical images and various information sources to build multimodal algorithms, with applications in cardiovascular medicine and beyond.
