Biography

Vicki Ellingrod received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1992 and her Doctor of Pharmacy in 1994 from the University of Minnesota. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in psychopharmacology and pharmacogenetics at the University of Iowa. After joining the faculty as an assistant professor, Dr. Ellingrod's research has focused on identifying genetic markers related to drug response in mental illness, with funding from the National Institute of Mental Health and industry partners. Before her academic career, she practiced as a clinical pharmacist on a medical psychiatry unit at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Ellingrod is a founding member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists and is recognized as a fellow by both the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. She serves as a scientific editor for Pharmacotherapy and is the editor of a pathophysiologic approach textbook. In recognition of her contributions, she has received several awards including the Michigan Institute for Clinical Health Research Distinguished Mentor Award in Clinical Translational Research in April 2012.
