Biography

Vicki Herrington is a social scientist passionate about creating innovative, global institutions. Her career has spanned academic and government institutions in the UK, Australia, and the United States. She has extensive experience in public sector research and innovation, specializing in helping leaders diagnose complex challenges, build innovative approaches, and make progress. Vicki is the Director of Academics and Research at the Global Police Innovation Exchange under the auspices of the Australian Federal Police, where she worked with colleagues from 12 nations to create a global leadership strategy focused on systems thinking, systems leadership, and systems innovation. Previously, she served as the Director of Knowledge at the Australian Institute of Police Management from 2011 to 2024, where she developed leadership education initiatives and promoted thought leadership and research impact in the global public safety profession. In recognition of her global efforts to advance the profession, she was awarded the James Smart Memorial Medal by Police Scotland in 2017. Vicki values interdisciplinary thinking and diversity in all its forms. She holds degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a PhD in Laws, and she is an alumna of the Saïd Business School’s Executive MBA program.
