Vicky Bronnec obtained her Ph.D. in Microbiology in 2016 from the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment in Nantes, France. Her doctoral research focused on food safety and the oxidative stress response of Campylobacter jejuni, with a particular emphasis on understanding its behavior as a foodborne pathogen and its biofilm lifestyle. After completing her PhD, Vicky joined Oleg Alexeyev's lab at Umeå University as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where she characterized the role of Propionibacterium acnes biofilms in the physiopathology of acne vulgaris. Concurrently, she was a member of the startup Vakona at the Umeå Biotech Incubator, where her research contributed to the development of antibiotic-free treatments for acne. In 2022, Vicky became a project manager at the Umeå Biotech Incubator, facilitating the progression of life science projects. Currently, she is involved in a translational research project within Björn Schröder's lab, Sun Nyunt Wai's lab in the Department of Molecular Biology, and Richard Palmqvist's lab in the Department of Medical Biosciences. Her current focus is on investigating the role of the microbiome in the intestinal mucosa related to colorectal cancer, specifically studying the commensal anaerobic pathogen Parvimonas micra, which has been associated with tumorigenesis and decreased survival in patients with colorectal cancer.
Requirements are standard for Master's programs across Social Sciences and Humanities at Umeå. English 6 proficiency is the general rule.
