Biography

Vicky McArthur is the Program Director and an Associate Professor in Media Production Design at Carleton University, cross-appointed to Communication and Media Studies. Her primary research interests center on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) with a focus on game design, digital humanities, and storytelling within augmented and virtual reality contexts. McArthur’s research has been supported by various funding agencies, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI). As a co-director of the Mixed Augmented Reality Virtual Environments Lab (MARVEL), she oversees projects utilizing dedicated optical tracking spaces, inertial motion capture suits, and virtual reality technologies. McArthur has contributed to numerous prestigious conferences and journals in computer science, media studies, and psychology, garnering several awards for her research excellence. She actively participates in advancing immersive storytelling techniques and has contributed to the academic community through various publications on VR applications and HCI. Outside her academic pursuits, she enjoys gaming, paddle sports, and is involved in Muay Thai competitions.
