Dr. Victor Araneda Jure

Biography

Victor Araneda Jure is a Chilean-born independent filmmaker, educator, and creative director with experience in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Chile. His work spans short films, music videos, and advertising campaigns, with recognition at international film festivals. Victor holds a PhD in Film Studies from Monash University, where he explored the creative process involved in adapting alternative comics into independent films. He also earned a Master's degree in Film and Television from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. As a lecturer at the School of Media, Film, and Journalism at Monash University, Victor teaches film, media, and advertising, focusing on real-world applications and integrated client-based projects that help students develop creative campaigns and video content. He has experience in curriculum development and has served as the Head Tutor for core film studies units. His research interests include the intersection of film, comics, and media studies, with a focus on adaptation and media convergence. Victor is dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment, integrating diverse perspectives in his teaching, and adapting methods to meet the needs of his students. Outside of academia, he enjoys watching movies, exploring the outdoors, bouldering, playing video games, and reading comics.
