Dr. Victor Chang

Biography

Victor Chang, MD, specializes in oncology with a focus on gastrointestinal cancers, particularly colon cancer. He emphasizes the importance of awareness in improving detection and survival rates for colon cancer. Dr. Chang advocates for a healthy lifestyle that includes a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, as well as regular screenings to reduce the risk of colon cancer. As an active member of the Yale Cancer Center's Gastrointestinal Cancers Disease Aligned Research Team, he collaborates with academic leaders in colon cancer, participating in tumor board meetings and research discussions to provide patients with access to the latest treatments and clinical trials. With a passion for cancer research that began during his undergraduate studies, Dr. Chang believes that the future of cancer research lies in cancer genomics, which can help tailor treatments for individual patients. He is particularly excited about the advancements in immunotherapy, especially in utilizing checkpoint inhibitors to enhance the body’s immune response against cancer. Dr. Chang completed his medical degree, residency, and fellowship training at the Yale School of Medicine.
