Dr. Victor Maas

Biography

Victor Maas is a Professor of Accounting at the University of Amsterdam, where he has been a full professor since 2014. He earned his PhD from the University of Amsterdam in 2007 and previously worked at Erasmus University Rotterdam. His teaching encompasses financial accounting, management accounting, judgment decision making, and experimental research methods across undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs. His research interests lie in the economic, cognitive, and social factors that influence the behavior of accountants, employees, and managers. His expertise includes discretionary performance evaluation processes and the strategic dysfunctional behavior in organizations. Victor has published extensively in prominent journals such as the Journal of Accounting Research, Accounting Review, and European Accounting Review, and he serves as a Senior Editor for Behavioral Research in Accounting. He has held positions on editorial boards and coordinated the European Network for Experimental Accounting Research. In addition, he has an adjunct position at the Norwegian School of Economics, demonstrating his international collaboration in research and mentorship.
