Dr. Victor Regnier

Biography

Victor Regnier is a distinguished professor and a registered architect, serving at the USC School of Architecture and the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. He has achieved fellowship status from the American Institute of Architects and the Gerontological Society of America. Between 1992 and 1996, he held the position of Dean at USC’s School of Architecture. His professional focus includes housing design for community settings aimed at older individuals, leading to the publication of ten books and over sixty articles addressing housing and community planning for the elderly. Regnier's latest book, 'Housing an Increasingly Older Population: Redefining Assisted Living for the Mentally and Physically Frail,' was published in Fall 2018, with a Chinese translation scheduled for release in Fall 2019. He has received numerous awards for his academic and professional work, including Fulbright research awards and distinguished alumni recognition. Throughout his career, he has directed twenty research projects related to behavioral impacts of environments, contributed significantly to professional journals, and consulted on approximately 400 building projects across North America and Europe, earning multiple design awards for these efforts. Regnier's teaching emphasizes the integration of design and research in architectural education, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for older adults.
