Biography

Victoria Oana Lupașcu is an Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature and Asian Studies at the Université de Montréal. Her research interests encompass medical humanities, visual arts, 20th and 21st-century Chinese, Brazilian, and Romanian literature, as well as studies on the Global South. She supervises graduate theses exploring themes such as social space and transtextuality in video games, gender representations of violence in horror video games, and the portrayal of PTSD in fiction and games. In addition to her teaching, she is involved in significant research projects including exploring perceptions of the Chinese Quarter from 1877 to the present, funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies. She also contributes to the study of biopolitics in the context of a living pandemic, supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
