Dr. Victoria Barbosa

Biography

Victoria Holloway Barbosa, MD, MBA, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. She is an internationally recognized expert in hair and scalp disorders, treating dermatological conditions affecting skin color. Dr. Barbosa earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Harvard University and her medical degree, cum laude, from Yale University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and her residency in dermatology at Yale. Dr. Barbosa also completed the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, alongside an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She joined the faculty at the University of Chicago in 2019, after previously owning a successful private practice, Millennium Park Dermatology, and serving as Vice President of Research Development at L’Oréal USA, where she built and managed the L’Oréal Institute for Ethnic Hair and Skin Research. In addition, Dr. Barbosa is the Immediate Past President of the Chicago Dermatological Society, Secretary-Treasurer of the Illinois Dermatological Society, and a Scientific Advisor for the Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundation. She has contributed significantly to academic literature in her field, focusing on the efficacy of treatments for scalp conditions and the diversity of the dermatology workforce.
