Biography

Victoria (Vicky) Hilborne is an Associate Professor (Teaching) at University College London (UCL) in the Department of Chemistry, where she focuses on developing innovative teaching methods in analytical physical chemistry. She is the Programme Director for the MSc degree in Applied Analytical Chemistry, and since joining UCL in 2016, she has modernized physical analytical chemistry and data analytics laboratory courses. Vicky has introduced new assessment feedback approaches in chemistry courses. Prior to her time at UCL, Vicky was a senior technician and lecturer in Analytical Chemistry, Forensic, and Biosciences at London South Bank University (LSBU), where she earned her PhD in predictive model development for contaminant dispersion in ventilated indoor air. Her post-doctoral research involved gas kinetics of nuclear fuel reprocessing simulants. Vicky holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Chemistry from Edinburgh University. She has extensive experience in product development and quality control during her previous roles in the industry. Vicky is actively involved in several professional organizations, including serving as the President Elect of the Royal Society of Chemistry Analytical Community Council.
