Biography

Vida Jamali earned her Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Rice University under the guidance of Prof. Matteo Pasquali. She received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology. Following her doctoral studies, she was a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Paul Alivisatos' lab at the University of California, Berkeley, where she was involved with the Kavli Energy Nanoscience Institute. At Georgia Tech, Jamali leads the Jamali Research Group, which employs experimental, theoretical, and computational techniques, including liquid phase transmission electron microscopy, rheology, and statistical colloidal thermodynamics. Her research focuses on the underlying physical principles that govern dynamics, statistics, mechanics, and self-organization in nanostructured soft materials and their thermal equilibrium, while also addressing fundamental technological aspects.
