Dr. Vida Yao

Biography

Vida Yao is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research primarily focuses on Ethics and moral psychology, with a special emphasis on the nature of emotions and the self. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at the University of British Columbia in 2009 and earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016. Her work contributes to the understanding of ethical frameworks and the psychological underpinnings of moral decision-making, exploring how emotions influence ethical behavior and self-conception in philosophical discourse. Yao is dedicated to advancing the field through both teaching and publication, engaging with complex issues that lie at the intersection of philosophy and psychology.
