Biography

Vidya Muthukumar received her B.Tech (with honors) degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining Georgia Tech, she interned at IBM Research in the summer of 2018 as a Science for Social Good fellow. She was also a participant in the Simons Institute’s Theory of Computing research fellowship program, focusing on Theory Reinforcement Learning. Dr. Muthukumar has received several accolades including the Simons-Berkeley research fellowship, the IBM Science for Social Good Fellowship, and the UC Berkeley EECS Outstanding Course Development Teaching Award. She has served on the senior program committee for the Conference on Learning Theory (COLT) 2021. In her spare time, she enjoys singing Carnatic vocal music, playing the piano, and long-distance cycling.
