Dr. Vihang Jumle

Biography

Vihang Jumle is a doctoral student at the Institute of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Bern, focusing on algorithmic biases in search engines and platforms. He began his doctoral studies in September 2023. Vihang holds a master's degree in public policy from the Hertie School in Berlin, which he completed in 2023, and a bachelor's degree in information technology from Mumbai University, awarded in 2019. His previous work experience includes time at a boutique law firm focusing on tech policy and organizations such as the World Wide Fund for Nature and the University of Freiburg. Vihang briefly co-led the 'Networks and (Dis)Information Research Group' at King's College London in 2023. His research interests include political communication in the age of new media, utilizing a multi-methods approach.
