Vijay Garg is a Professor and holds the Cullen Trust for Higher Education Endowed Professorship in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He is the director of the Parallel Distributed Systems Laboratory. Dr. Garg received his Bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in 1984, and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1985 and 1988, respectively. His main contributions include global predicate detection, distributed debugging, distributed simulation, fault-tolerance, distributed algorithms, and supervisory control of discrete event systems. Dr. Garg is the author of several books, including 'Concurrent Distributed Computing in Java' and 'Elements of Distributed Computing.' Additionally, he is a co-author of 'Modeling and Control of Logical Discrete Event Systems.' He is recognized as an IEEE Fellow.
