Dr. Vijaya Raghavendra Bollapragada

Biography

Raghu Bollapragada is an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Austin, affiliated with the ODEN Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences. His research focuses on designing algorithms for nonlinear optimization, with a keen interest in subfields such as constrained optimization, stochastic optimization, and distributed optimization. As the complexity of optimization problems increases, particularly in areas like logistics, controls, machine learning, and computational physics, it is essential to develop new algorithms that leverage advanced hardware and software tools. He leads a software team that has released open-source implementations of proposed algorithms through the SANDOPT GitHub repository, with prior implementations available in ZOAdaQN. He has presented significant contributions at various conferences, including the INFORMS Annual Meeting and Winter Simulation Conference. His research has been published in noted journals like Computational Optimization Applications and SIAM Journal on Optimization.
