Biography

Vikram Dwarkadas is a Research Professor in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on the fields of Particle High Energy Astronomy and Astrophysics, Galactic Astronomy and Astrophysics, Solar System Astronomy and Astrophysics, as well as Computational Astrophysics. He is involved with several scientific projects including the Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System (VERITAS). His work primarily deals with numerical simulations and analytic calculations concerning the Interstellar Medium, supernovae, supernova remnants, stellar winds, bubbles, shock waves, and ultra-luminous X-ray sources. Additionally, he studies the formation of the solar system, particularly the problems associated with high levels of 26Al and low levels of 60Fe in the early solar system.
