Dr. Vinay Aakalu

Biography

Vinay Aakalu, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Ocular Surface Disease Research Program at Michigan Medicine, University of Michigan. He specializes in Oculoplastics and has dedicated his career to improving patient outcomes in eye plastic surgery. Aakalu completed his medical education at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2006, followed by a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2010. He further advanced his expertise with a fellowship in Oculoplastics Reconstructive Surgery at the same institution in 2012. His clinical interests include eye plastic surgery, orbital facial cosmetic surgery, and he is recognized for his contribution to the field through his extensive research and teaching. He is approved as an Associate Preceptor for the ASOPRS Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Fellowship. Aakalu is committed to providing comprehensive care to his patients and collaborates with referring physicians to ensure optimal treatment outcomes.
