Biography

Vinay Goyal has extensive experience in the areas of launch vehicles and aircraft, with an emphasis on the application of advanced materials. With 20 years of experience as a Technical Fellow at The Aerospace Corporation, he worked on launch vehicles and spacecraft. He is a member of NASA's NESC technical teams dedicated to ensuring flight safety in human spaceflight. Goyal has published over 100 technical papers addressing aircraft launch and structural issues. His research focuses on mission-critical applications, including the analysis and testing of additive manufacturing, ceramic ball bearings, impact damage, sandwich structures, thermal protection systems, ablative systems, and failure analysis in composites. He also studies failure assessments of polymeric materials and the durability of out-of-autoclave composites as well as damage tolerance in bonded joints and optical-thermal structures. Additionally, Goyal examined filament wound pressure vessels in his research endeavors.
