I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. My current research focuses on the investigation of low doses of psilocybin as a treatment for moderate depression, and I am the Principal Investigator of the MicroDep Trial. I am also a member of the Macquarie University Ethics Agency Research Centre. My studies examine cognitive and neurological changes that occur in altered states of consciousness. I am particularly interested in self-representation, monitoring feelings of control over actions (sense of agency), and tracking body representation in space. My research integrates understanding of altered states to enhance mental health and cognition. I have explored the clinical applications of low doses of psychedelics, attentional capacities in meditation practices, psychiatric symptoms related to disturbed control, and flow states in various contexts, including using hypnotic suggestions and body representation alterations within virtual reality. My work serves to deepen our understanding of these areas and their impact on mental wellness.
