Biography

Vincent J. Cardinal serves as a Professor in Musical Theatre Performance at the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at the University of Michigan. He has previously held the position of Arthur Martha Hearron endowed Professor and Musical Theatre Chair in the Department of Musical Theatre at Michigan. Cardinal also acted as an artistic director for the Connecticut Repertory Theatre and chaired the Department of Dramatic Arts at the University of Connecticut. Cardinal has extensive directing experience with 90 productions across the country and has been an associate artist with Circle Repertory Company. His direction of plays has earned acclaim, including recognition at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. With a background in playwriting from the Yale School of Drama, he received the ASCAP-Cole Porter Award for Best Collected Work. Cardinal's directing highlights feature a range of productions, including works by Shakespeare, Larry Shue, and Duncan Macmillan, showcasing his versatility and skill in bringing musical theatre to life.
