Professor Dr. Vincent Mcfarlane

Biography

Vincent McFarlane is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. He obtained his Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Alberta, where his thesis focused on laboratory and field measurements of frazil ice characteristics. His research interests lie in river ice processes, including frazil anchor ice formation, river supercooling energy budget, and ice jam flooding. He has also worked as a Hydrotechnical Specialist at Stantec Consulting Ltd and as an Associate Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba. An active researcher, McFarlane has authored and co-authored numerous publications in reputable journals pertaining to his field, advancing the understanding of hydraulic behavior in cold regions. His dedication to the academic community is reflected in his professional affiliations, including being a licensed Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.
