Dr. Vincent Van De Ven

Biography

Vincent van de Ven is an Associate Professor at Maastricht University, specializing in the field of cognitive neuroscience. His research interests focus primarily on how humans memorize experiences to predict future events. He investigates the role of contextual factors in memory, specifically how context can enhance or inhibit memory retrieval. Van de Ven employs a range of experimental techniques, including behavioral paradigms and various neuroimaging tools such as FMRI and EEG, alongside non-invasive brain stimulation and virtual reality technologies. He is actively involved in teaching, coordinating memory-related courses at both the Bachelor and Master levels, and he serves as a guest lecturer across various faculties. In addition to his academic duties, he frequently engages in public speaking about his research in neuroscience and memory. His goal is to deepen our understanding of memory-related cognitive processes and how they can be influenced by contextual elements.
