Biography

Vincenzo Abbate obtained his Pharm. D from Federico II University of Naples, Italy in 2004 and completed his PhD in Chemistry with a focus on Analytical Sciences at the Open University in the UK in 2008. He was awarded the prestigious Maplethorpe Fellowship at the University of London. Currently, he is a Reader in Bioanalysis at King's College London, where he leads a group of ten researchers and is the Programme Director for the MSc in Analytical Toxicology. He serves as the President of the IUPAC Subcommittee on Toxicology Risk Assessment and is a member of several renowned societies including the Royal Society of Chemistry, the American Chemical Society, the Society of Toxicology, and the TIAFT. Abate has authored or co-authored over 85 peer-reviewed publications, contributing significantly to the fields of forensic science and analytical toxicology. His research focuses on key areas such as the stability of synthetic cathinones and their detection, as well as the development of innovative methods in toxicology research.
