Biography

Vinod Aggarwal is the Distinguished Professor and Alann P. Bedford Endowed Chair in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also the Director of the Berkeley APEC Study Center and an Affiliated Professor at the Haas School of Business. Aggarwal has held fellowships at prestigious institutions such as the Brookings Institution, and the Japan Foundation and has served as a consultant to various governmental bodies including the Mexican and Malaysian governments, as well as U.S. federal departments. He specializes in international political economy and comparative regionalism, with a focus on business politics. Aggarwal has authored numerous books and over 160 articles, contributing significantly to the fields of trade policy and international negotiations. His current research explores regionalism in Europe, North America, and Asia, along with industrial policy and economic statecraft. Aggarwal received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and both his M.A. and Ph.D. from Stanford University. He is fluent in five languages and has taught at several international universities.
