Biography

Vinod Kumar is a Chancellor’s Professor Emeritus and a Distinguished Research Professor at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. He has a rich academic background with a BSc from Agra University, a BEng in Mechanical from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, an MEng in Mechanical Design from the University of California, Berkeley, and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Manitoba. Dr. Kumar has a notable tenure of ten years as Director of the Sprott School, where he facilitated significant fundraising efforts totaling nearly $13 million and initiated Carleton’s first offshore degree programs. His industry experience spans 15 years across India, the U.S., and Canada in various management positions. Dr. Kumar's research interests encompass enterprise system adoption and implementation, e-commerce technology strategy, supply chain management, production operations improvement, manufacturing flexibility, technology transfer, quality R&D, and sustainability in supply chains. With over 360 papers published in refereed journals and conference proceedings, he has authored 20 research books and contributed to 46 book chapters. An esteemed speaker, he has delivered invited lectures worldwide and supervised numerous master’s and PhD theses. Dr. Kumar has received multiple awards for scholarly achievements and mentoring, including the Jack Meredith Award from the Academy of Management and the Indo-Canada Ottawa Business Chamber award for service.
