Dr. Vinod Prasad

Biography

Vinod K. Prasad is a Medical Professor at the Department of Pediatrics at Duke University and a member of the Duke Cancer Institute. His research interests focus on advancing the efficacy of umbilical cord blood transplants for inherited metabolic disorders and the clinical outcomes related to histocompatibility determinants in unrelated cord blood transplants. He has conducted extensive studies analyzing the impact of Killer Immunoglobulin receptors on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and has developed longitudinal studies to monitor adenovirus in allogenic transplant patients. Prasad's work also includes utilizing mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). He completed his residency at Cornell University and has held fellowships in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His clinical and research expertise, evidenced through multiple grants, continues to contribute significantly to the field of pediatric hematology and oncology, particularly in stem cell transplantation.
