Dr. Virginia Lightner

Biography

Virginia Ann Lightner is a Medical Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Duke University. She holds a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Duke University. Dr. Lightner is involved in research focusing on cell-matrix interactions and skin biology, particularly in relation to tenascin regulation. She has received multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health for her work in this field. Her past appointments include Assistant Consulting Professor in Dermatology and various roles as an Assistant and Associate Professor in both Cell Biology and Medicine within the Department of Medicine. Dr. Lightner has a strong background in research and education in dermatological sciences, contributing significantly to the understanding of skin conditions and cellular interactions.
