Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Vitor Cardoso. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Vitor Cardoso's research is primarily focused on gravitational-wave astronomy and long-baseline interferometry, with an emphasis on probing gravitational interactions in regimes previously thought impossible to observe. His interests lie in black hole physics and testing the fundamental principles of General Relativity. Vitor aims to understand various issues surrounding black holes, including their geometric descriptions under Einstein's theory and their existence in environments where dark matter structures can be explored using black hole binaries. Vitor also investigates new fundamental fields around black holes. He serves as co-chair of the ngEHT Fundamental Physics Group and is involved in the LISA Science Investigation package. As a Villum Investigator and DNRF chair, he has received recognition for his scientific achievements, including ERC Grants, and was awarded the title “Ordem de Sant’Iago da Espada” in 2015 by the President of the Portuguese Republic for his contributions to the field. His collaborations span across major research areas, and over the last five years, he has engaged in significant external collaborations at both the country and territory level.
Focuses on clinical, social, and cognitive psychology.
