Biography

Vivek Bindiganavile is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. He earned his PhD in Civil Engineering Materials from the University of British Columbia in 2003, following an M.A.Sc. in the same field in 1998 and a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from Banaras Hindu University in 1996. Dr. Bindiganavile has extensive experience in academia and industry, having also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at both the University of Manitoba and the University of British Columbia. His research interests include toughness enhancement of brittle matrix composites, rehabilitation of existing infrastructure, and fracture mechanics of fiber-reinforced concrete. His projects often involve innovative materials and the application of novel repair techniques in civil engineering. Dr. Bindiganavile has collaborated with various universities on significant studies, notably in developing lightweight and durable building materials. He has authored or co-authored numerous publications in leading civil engineering journals and continues to contribute to the field through active research and mentoring of students.
