Dr. Vivette D Agati

Biography

Vivette D'Agati is a leading expert in renal pathology, particularly focused on the mechanisms underlying glomerular and tubulointerstitial injury. She directs one of the largest renal pathology laboratories in the United States, processing approximately 5,500 renal biopsies annually. Her research interests include podocytopathies, immune-mediated glomerulonephritis, and toxic tubulopathies. D'Agati's work has been instrumental in characterizing emerging kidney diseases and their clinical implications. With over 580 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters, she is committed to advancing the field through translational research and education. D'Agati is the Delafield Professor of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Medical Center, where she has significantly contributed to the training of new fellows and led national courses on renal biopsy interpretation. Her contributions have not only enhanced our understanding of specific kidney conditions like Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) but have also influenced global standards for classification of kidney diseases.
