Biography

Vivian Kvist Johannsen is a Professor and the Head of the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management at the University of Copenhagen. With a solid educational background that includes a PhD in Forestry from the Royal Agricultural and Veterinary University, obtained in 2000, and an MSc in Forestry from the same institution in 1993, she has a profound expertise in her field. Vivian's research primarily focuses on trees and forests, examining the condition and development of individual trees and stands at a national level. Her specific interest areas include tree growth and quality, vegetation dynamics, and the interconnected relationships within entire ecosystems, particularly concerning ecosystem services and functions. She adopts a mathematical-statistical approach, favoring interdisciplinary collaboration in her research. Additionally, Vivian is actively engaged in teaching, contributing through guest lectures and supervision, and plays a significant role in planning educational activities. She collaborates with various public and private entities, including the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Climate and Energy, emphasizing her commitment to bridging academic research and practical applications.
