Biography

Vivian Weerdesteyn is a Professor at Radboud University Medical Centre, specializing in Rehabilitation. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy in 1996, followed by a Master's in Human Movement Science in 1999. In 2005, she earned her PhD in Medical Science from Radboud University Nijmegen, focusing on the development and evaluation of a falls prevention program for the elderly, known as 'Vallen Verleden Tijd'. Currently, she chairs the balance and gait laboratories and holds an associate professorship at the university. Her research aims to elucidate the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying impaired balance and gait control in people with neurological conditions, and to design and evaluate novel interventions to ameliorate these issues. Vivian has served on the board of the International Society for Posture and Gait Research (ISPGR) and has been appointed as a co-host for the upcoming World Congress of ISPGR in Miami. She is also an editorial board member for the journal Gait & Posture and has published around 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
