Biography

Vivien Holmes is a Professor at the Australian National University's College of Law. Her research interests focus on legal ethics, professionalism, and the legal profession. Prior to joining ANU, she worked as a litigation solicitor in both private practice and government, served as a legal policy officer, and held various judicial roles including Registrar at the Northern Territory Supreme Court and Deputy Coroner. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honors) obtained in 1984, a Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Administration in 1995, and a Master of Social Science in International Development from 2006. As a lead researcher, she investigates lawyer wellbeing and workplace culture, seeking to understand the relationship between appropriate workplace conduct and ethical climate in legal organizations. This work is supported by the Victorian Legal Services Board and the Law Society of New South Wales, among others.
