Dr. Vj Periyakoil

Biography

VJ Periyakoil is a Professor of Medicine at Stanford University, specializing in primary care population health and geriatrics palliative care. He is the Associate Dean for Research at the Stanford University School of Medicine and the founding director of several prominent programs, including the Stanford Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program and the Stanford Palliative Care Education and Training Program. VJ has held significant leadership roles, directing initiatives at the Stanford Medicine Center for Longevity and the VA Palliative Care Interprofessional Fellowship Program. His research, funded by organizations such as the NIH and HRSA, focuses on health disparities, palliative care, and strategies to improve outcomes for aging populations. Over the years, he has been recognized with numerous awards reflecting his contributions to the field, including the Richard Payne Outstanding Achievement Award from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
