Vladimir Canudas-Romo holds a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences and Mathematics from UNAM (1993-1997) and a master's degree in Population Studies from FLACSO (1997-1999) in Mexico. He received his PhD through a joint collaboration between the University of Groningen (1999-2003) in the Netherlands and the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Germany. Following this, he served as a research scientist in the Department of Demography at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2005 to 2007. He then became an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the University of Copenhagen. He joined the Max Planck Odense Centre in Denmark in 2013 and has been with the School of Demography at the Australian National University since 2017. His research interests focus on Demography, particularly the role of public debate in understanding disparities among populations, mortality and health research, analyses of life expectancy, and studying inequalities in mortality across different social subpopulations.
